Leading God's People

There is only one epistle in the New Testament written to a house church: the little book of Philemon—twenty-five verses that look very small, and are not as small as you think. In June 2026, at Koumé, leaders of house churches gathered for a session of the School of Knowing and Serving God (SKSG), the worker’s training institution of Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI). For six days, brother Theodore Andoseh led them through the epistle to Philemon—not in an expository manner, but looking squarely at the issues of the house church: where a house church must be planted if it is not to die; what kind of person its leader must be; how the evangelist and the pastor must treat one another so that no convert is lost between them; and how the young convert—the Onesimus at the centre of the whole letter—is to be cared for, established in Christ, established in the church, and established in life. This book is the fruit of those six days. The chapters retain the voice of the teaching as it was given: direct, pastoral, searching, interrupted again and again by prayer. The prayers have been kept, turned towards you, the reader, so that you may not merely read this book but pray your way through it. The burden of the book is stated on its first pages and never released: if we lead people to Christ and do not establish them in the church, we have not won a soul. May the Lord use these pages so that His church, planted in places, in families, in lives and in hearts, may stop losing her children.
